Shiva Lal Agarwala and Company started its journey way back in 1940. It was set up by Shri Radhey Mohan Agarwal who was a determined freedom fighter.

He felt the need of quality and authentic books on History and therefore started publishing books on the subject. It is a matter of proud privilege of having published books authored by several eminent personalities of our nation, prominent among them being Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Pattabhi Sitaramayya, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Historian Shri Jadunath Sarkar, G. S. Sirdosi, A. L. Srivastava.
